Bug Description

I'm trying to develop a scope for Gmail, taking the credentials from Online Accounts, but I realized that it's not possible in Ubuntu 13.04 as it is, because no access to Gmail messages is granted by registering one's Google account on Online Accounts, even though the provider's description clearly states "Includes Gmail".

This bug can be fixed by removing that information from the description, but if that's what will be done about it, could someone please point me to what I can do to get IMAP access to Gmail from Online Accounts? Thanks.

This patch fixes the issue by adding mail.google.com among the requested scopes in google.provider .

The issue probably comes from the permissions associated with the API key used centrally to let Ubuntu systems access a persons identity with Google services. Let us know if you made progress on your scope work. For now I will mark the bug incomplete.

Multiple issues arised which made me stop the development of the scope.
This one was one of them. The other ones are the lack of documentation on
Unity 7 scopes (There was far more documentation available before. If
anyone knows where to find it, please let me know), the fact that I would
have to rewrite it in C for Unity 8 and uncertainty if I'll even be able to
accomplish what I want from the news I heard that Unity 8 scopes would only
be able to use the Internet or the Filesystem, but not both. Can you
confirm this?
