Feature Request: Use Command Line and Append from script

A question from last year asked about command line interaction
...a suggestion was made to turn it into a bug report so it could be added to development.
It does not appear to have been done. Any updates to interacting with the command line?

I would like to interact on the command line *and* to be able to script it in a program.
(e.g. have a program or BASH script automatically log important events)
For the latter, it would need to either be silent or have a "silent mode" command line option that did not *require* user input.
A while ago, I had actually looked into hacking by appending (via, >>), but if memory serves your data file has some stuff at the end of it.

Thanks for your consideration of this. *IF* this would be added, I certainly would recommend this software to all students/research trainees interested in recording as an electronic lab notebook *if* they could use it from both text-only ssh terminals and programs/scripts..

I would love to use this with my command line. similar to how todotxt uses aliases to quickly add entries. like

There has been no progress on this unfortunately. In case anyone wants to implement this I would recommend using the command line interface from jrnl (http://maebert.github.io/jrnl/) as guidance.
