Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

I have imported about 2000 images. When I context-click one of the thumbnails and choose "Delete from drive", the thumbnail is no longer visible. The source image still exists however. I expected the original image to be removed from it's location on the harddisk.

Either the feature should be renamed, or the implied behaviour implemented.

Personally, I think Delete from Drive should be a feature. Very useful and it augments the 'Remove from Catalogue' option.

I'm using version 0.3.5 on Ubuntu 7.04.

It turns out that the error is a result of the image files being read-only. But F-Spot never reported this.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I tested this with f-spot 0.4.0 and it works fine may you test it? Is available in Gutsy you can grab a CD Image from here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/

The issue remains the same for F-Spot 4.0 in Gutsy tribe 5.

To reproduce the bug;

1) Open F-Spot
2) Choose "File -> Import..."
3) Choose folder /home/<username>/Examples
4) Click the "Import" button.

5) In the F-Spot browser, context click (right click) on "kubuntu-leaflet.png" and choose "Remove from drive".
6) Notice that the file is no longer viewable in F-Spot, however, the file has _not_ been removed from the file system.

The reason it wasn't removed is that the file is owned by root with attribute 'read only'.
The user should have been notified of this issue by F-Spot.

Okay. How can I verify that? I'm interested in where it was addressed and what stage the fix is in (svn / release). I've searched bugzilla but found nothing like the bug I reported.

This bug has been fixed in version 0.4.1-4ubuntu1.

Manually closing because the upload failed to autoclose it.
