Bug Description

For whatever reason, instead of just exiting Tumblerd actually keeps me from unmounting an external drive.

Backporting upstream version 1.27 would probably help (and fix memory leaks as well), but it's been ported to GStreamer 1.0 which is not available to us. Derp.

On my Xubuntu 12.04 64bit I have made a keyboard shortcut to kill tumblerd if and when this happens (winkey+U) which works very well, so is not a major problem for me, but I'm surprised it has not been solved by now.

Another alternative is to disable tumblerd: you can't remove the tumbler package without removing pantheon-files, but if you just delete/rename /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/tumbler-1/tumblerd, everything apart from thumbnails seems to work fine.

Can't backport newer tumblerd to Luna because of dependency problems, then PLEASE dump tumblerd and use something else...

Hasn't anyone around here heard of ----> KISS? Keep It Simple Stupid! :)

Bloody just use udisks, or at least look into seeing how you could incorporate udevil into your file manager instead!

http://ignorantguru.github.io/udevil/

I use udevil with SpaceFM in Slackware and it works great! Extremely light weight and no flipping additional dependencies needed!

Hi there,

So i am using the elementaryos-stable-i386.20130810, and i got the same error that prevent me from unmounting the flash drive.

The os is pretty cool, but i can't belive they miss this bug !

This is quite an "elementary" feature to implement.

And after a normal use of this os, i say, this is the main big thing to fix for the average use.

I post with good hope.
