Bug Description

Mint 14 64-bit, Nadia. From a stock install, there appears to be two ways of setting keyboard shortcuts:

Cinnamon Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts

OR

System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts

Both of these methods of changing key bindings conflict with one-another. I suspect this may be the cause of Bug #1010318 which prevents the correct binding of winkey (<SUPER>) and several keys to a custom shortcut/predefined command.

You can replicate this on a stock install by going to Cinnamon Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Create a new shortcut to launch nemo or change the home folder shortcut and try setting it to SUPER+E. It doesn't work. SUPER+T for terminal won't work either. Setting the binding on one place will not be reflected elsewhere. Even restarting will not let Mint observe the binding.

This is messy and problematic, especially for new users and should be raised in proiority IMO.

Similar problem with Mint 16 64bit.
Super+E and Super+T just launches on second or third try, first time it's always as if I had just pressed E or T without <SUPER>
If I add a custom shortcut for gnome-terminal with the same keys <SUPER>+T it works just fine.

Same problem in LMDE 201303 Cinnamon 64-bit.

- Default <Ctrl+Alt+t> binding to terminal (in cinnamon menu) doesn't work.
- Trying to assign a different keybind to the web browser launcher in the cinnamon menu wasn't possible, although the same keybind would be accepted in the standard keyboard menu
- Binding "Home folder" to <Super+e >in the cinnamon settings doesn't work, although the binding does show up afterwards in the standard keyboard settings
- Similarly to what was reported here-above, binding <Super+Return> to terminal only launches on the second or third try.
- However, binding <Super+m> to "Toggle maximize" works, when keeping the default menu bind to <Super_L>
- Changing the default "Menu" bind to <Ctrl+Alt+m>, and "Toggle maximize" to <Ctrl+Super+m> would launch the menu (!) when invoking <Ctrl+Super+m>, and would do nothing when invoking <Ctrl+Alt+m>.

And finally, I really couldn't seem to find a way to reset the keyboards settings to their original default value. I tried:
- menu bar > settings > Troubleshoot > Restore all settings to default
- gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon
- gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon.keyboard
- gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon.muffin.keybindings
- Installing dconf, going through the database, clicking the "Set to default" keys when available, without any effect
What is wrong with a simple "reset to default" in the settings menu?
