This also happens with me..No online contacts. In fact, the whole integration with "online accounts" seems to be very disjointed. I can never tell of an account is connected or not. Every time I start my computer I get the "An online account needs your attention message" but when I open online accounts I do not see anything available.

Not sure what is happening. I feel lost and confused..

This issue only started recently (in June 2013) for me. Previous to that it was working properly when it connected or showing a message saying an online account needs you attention when it wasn't connected. Now it appears connected but doesn't show any contacts (even with offline contacts set to visible). Twice I have discovered this issue shortly after telepathy-gabble crash messages so there may be a correlation there.

I should also add that as a workaround removing the account from the account manager and adding it back again will cause the contacts to show again.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #> and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
