Bug Description

In dropdown networks menu, "Wi-Fi Networks" is uneselectable, and below that appears that statement "Wi-Fi is disabled by hardware switch". Entering rfkill list in a terminal produces the following output:

 Soft blocked: no
 Hard blocked: yes
2: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
 Soft blocked: no
 Hard blocked: no
3: asus-bluetooth: Bluetooth
 Soft blocked: no

6: hci0: Bluetooth

 Hard blocked: no

Toggling wireless via [Function Key]+F2 produces the following rfkill list output:

1: phy0: Wireless LAN
 Soft blocked: yes
 Hard blocked: yes
2: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
 Soft blocked: yes
 Hard blocked: no
3: asus-bluetooth: Bluetooth
 Soft blocked: no
 Hard blocked: no
6: hci0: Bluetoothhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1172151
 Soft blocked: no

Restarting the netbook does not solve the solution. None of the solutions provided in the bug at address https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1172151 provide effective results.

I need a solution to fix this problem. Function+F2 does not fix the problem. This issue arose only after an update from Ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04. Can someone help me?

Oh, nevermind. After a bit of searching and examination, I finally discovered that my wi-fi was turned off in my BIOS under "onboard devices". It's odd that that being the case did not cause wi-fi to be inaccessible in previous distributions, though.
