The system freezes upon a certain action

Bug Description

The system froze twice, and in each case I was doing two things:

- Playing music on Rhythmbox
- Using Google Chrome to browse a page with a large number of hyperlinks. One of these pages was the Ubuntu One page where you can see your files (I was in a directory with 89 items), the other was: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/text?doc=Perseus%3atext%3a1999.01.0169%3atext%3dApol. (Notice the great number of links on the top indicating the position in the book.)

After moving my mouse through several of these links, the system froze up in both instances. However:

- I could continue moving the mouse, even though actions like clicking, or moving the mouse to the left side of the screen to display the launcher had no effect.
- More interestingly, the music kept playing.

I had to shut the computer off via the power button to restart.

Something related may have just happened: I had Facebook on, and a video was playing. The system seemed to freeze again, but corrected itself in about 10 seconds. The music kept playing.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1174491/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Emre Coskun, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi,

I tried to reproduce the problem with my 12.04 LTS system, but couldn't.
It doesn't seem to be an issue anymore.
