assertion botched message when opening a terminal

Bug Description
Every now and again, not reliably, and not under any particular circumstance I
can work out, bash gives the following message when I open a new terminal.
malloc: ../bash/
malloc: block on free list clobbered
Stopping myself...
Then it seems to start the shell properly and it's fine.
This is concerning but since I can't repeat it reliably yet I'm not sure yet
what to suggest.

yes, confirmed, but it hard to reproduce ... let's wait for bash-3.1.
