Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1172221/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

kubuntu@kubuntu:/media/035ab14f-5383-4c21-9e4c-688947930adc/jens$ The program 'java' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 3229 error_code 9 request_code 55 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

jenskapitza, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg-server REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

jenskkapitza, thank you for performing the requested test. Regarding the scope of this Bug Report, which is only focused on xserver crashing (not Compiz/overlay problems, or whether or not one may click into the checkbox), and this problem is not reproducible in Trusty, would you need a backport to a release prior to Trusty, or may this be marked Status Invalid?

should i open a new bug for the compiz stuff? i don't know if it is compiz (checking with fluxbox without compiz) results in the same problem the mouse does not work in this window.

(it is more an transparency problem) but who handle this? is this an gtk issue or opengl? or any hints where i can look at to clear

which component is affected

Ok. We'll just hold off on this report until you have stress tested your setup.
