Bug Description

To do some testing I wanted to use autopilot, but it fails to install on the latest phablet build:-

Hi Alan,

Which PPA are you using?

I guess the problem here is that python-qt4 is not available for arm. Do you know if we can make it available? Otherwise we'll need to make the autopilot vis tool optional. hmmmm...

This was on a device. Here's the steps i was following:-

http://pad.ubuntu.com/39AKusp4gG

Line 25 is where it failed.

I was trying to follow this guide to do some testing on a nexus 7 running ubuntu touch.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Testing/Autopilot

I will test on raring tomorrow, but so far only tested quantal.

Ahhhh, I see. A couple of things:

Autopilot 1.2 does not support the phablet devices. Work is underway right now to release autopilot 1.3, which adds a whole tonne of work to make autopilot platform-agnostic. The phablet team maintain the 'autopilot-phablet' package, which is a stop-gap measure to make the old autopilot 1.2 work on the arm devices. I'm hoping to kill that before the end of Oakland.

I'll confirm this bug, and target it at 1.3. We need to make sure 1.3 works on the devices sooner rather than later anyway, so we can use this bug to track that work.

importance: Undecided → Critical
milestone: none → 1.3
