failure during emacs24 configuration

while installing 24.3+1-1~ppa1~quantal1 leaves it unconfigurable.

installation is made from ppa: https://launchpad.net/~cassou/+archive/emacs

Can you please follow these steps and report again:

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install
$ sudo apt-get purge emacs-snapshot-common emacs-snapshot-bin-common emacs-snapshot emacs-snapshot-el emacs-snapshot-gtk emacs23 emacs23-bin-common emacs23-common emacs23-el emacs23-nox emacs23-lucid auctex emacs24 emacs24-bin-common emacs24-common emacs24-common-non-dfsg mmm-mode muse-el pylint planner-el
$ sudo apt-get install emacs24 emacs24-el emacs24-common-non-dfsg

yepp, that fixed it albeit it removes proofgeneral which ahs hardcoded dependency on emacs23 in ubuntu - any chance to get it rebuild with saner dependencies and placed into same ppa as emacs24?

I won't spend time packaging any emacs mode in the foreseeable future. I advise you to install ProofGeneral locally. Even better, propose an emacs package to http://marmalade-repo.org/.
