Bug Description

I have been upgrading my Ubuntu since 10.04 (I think, I am really not sure, since I am not a regular user, could've been since 9.10) hoping that some of the issues of compatibility might be resolved for the hardware I am working with.

The problem is:

Everytime I unplug the power cord, my ubuntu 12.10 just hangs and I have to hard reset the laptop (hold the power button until it shuts down and then power it on again with the power cord attached).

I'm not sure that I am submitting enough information and I am willing to send whatever I need to give more context. I have been looking at the forums and blogs trying to resolve this, but without any luck. I have issues with the touchpad and the brightness too.

I really want to use Ubuntu regularly, but these issues won't let me feel comfortable.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.9 kernel[0]. You will need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry about the delay.

I'll do my best to try the kernel and will follow your instructions.

Thanks a lot Joseph!

All right, I have installed the upstream kernel, and the bug is still there. I sadly have to confirm that. :(
