Bug Description
May be closely related to bug #880766, but only 2 disks. Initially 12.04 resided on an SSD. I have tried updating that OS, a re-install, and erasing the disk and doing a clean install. I have also fetched boot-repair from ppa:yannubuntu and run it. This also fails: on reboot I get to the opening screen (Ubuntu with a series of dots) and the install hangs.

UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
Resolution: I removed the second HDD. When forced to write the boot record to the SDD the install runs properly. The HDD can be reinstalled after the system is rebooted.
