Bug Description

May be closely related to bug #880766, but only 2 disks. Initially 12.04 resided on an SSD. I have tried updating that OS, a re-install, and erasing the disk and doing a clean install. I have also fetched boot-repair from ppa:yannubuntu and run it. This also fails: on reboot I get to the opening screen (Ubuntu with a series of dots) and the install hangs.

Resolution: I removed the second HDD. When forced to write the boot record to the SDD the install runs properly. The HDD can be reinstalled after the system is rebooted.

According to your logs you are using LVM, but there are no LVM partitions shown. Can you post the output of sudo parted -l?

As requested, output of 'sudo parted -l" is below. However this is only for the SSD. I haven't yet remounted the HDD because I am too busy installing and running codes. The curious thing is that this worked properly under 12.04 but I messed it up somehow going to 12.10.

We would need to see the output for the hd. Did you use LVM on that drive?
