Bug Description

MySQL 5.5 server can't see (and can't use) an index on a timestamp column if collation differs. Only MySQL 5.5 server is affected with this issue (MySQL 5.1, MySQL 5.6, MariaDB 5.5 or 10 works as expected).

This issue is also introduced in Percona Server 5.5.

Is percona planning on fixing this bug or trying to get upstream to fix it?

Once this bug is confirmed, it will be triaged, which will determine its relative fix priority. This one is unlikely to get a "High" triage, which makes its fix estimate rather unclear. A way to get a fix in a short time would be to engage Percona commercial services.

As for trying to get upstream to fix it, we don't have any control over that.
