Bug Description

Currently when the Add Preset button is pressed in the Timer Page, the tabs names are still shown. However it should dynamically reflect change to "Adding Preset" or something for better visual feedback to the user.

This has already been implemented for the add world city feature. As for the add timer preset fix, we are currently waiting for the official visual designs for them.

Looking at bug 1168359, could this not be worked around by using a PageStack inside a tab? Now PageStacks replace the title of the current tab by the title of the current page.

Bug 1168359 was reported before I knew about using pagestack together with tabs. As of now, the clock app does indeed use tabs inside a pagestack and thereby solving the issue. The new structure also complies with the examples shown in the API page. This has already been merged into trunk and is hence marked fix committed. As for bug 1168359, that is a separate issue in itself. I am sure there would be some developers who would like to rename tabs on the fly.
