Bug Description

Binary package hint: konqueror

fresh install of feisty on a blank laptop.

konqueror works as file manager but cannot access WWW. the address bar logo does however load.
eg. visit ebay.com.au and the ebay logo appears in the address bar.

all other web apps function normally and firefox will browse the WWW

***DODGY FIX***
turning off the web cache in konqueror settings enables browsing of WWW.

is this a case of incorrect permissions on the web cache?

cheers,

derek

Hi,

started with clean install of Fiesty (7.04) from the
official release cd.
and 3.5.6 konq and kde.

updated to KDE and konq 3.5.7 but problem remains

if i 'kdesu konqueror' and run as root it works with
the cache enabled.

if i run two konqs at once , one via kdesu and one
just by clicking the icon, the non root one will still
not browse if the cache is enabled.

i have run into other in the forums with same problems
and different hardware.

cheers,
derek

did you ever figure out what caused this? on my laptop, the same install... it used to work, then it stopped. i had to figure out that it was the cache as well. i never ran it as root though. i'm always on broadband so that cache doesn't matter to much possibly, but it is a problem.

Hi,

no not really, i did the regulation updates from time
to time and after a couple of weeks it fixed itself.

the bad news is that i was playing with kmyfirewall
last night and i have completely broken the internet.

running kmyfirewall on my edgy desktop didn't break
anything.

oh the mysteries of life...

cheers,

derek

I wonder why kmyfirewall broke...

Feel free to file a bug on that, if you're sure it's not a config (local) problem.
