Acer 1830T, Intel HDA, ALC269VB : microphone does not work with kernel Raring/3.8.0-17-generic

Dear Kernel team,

let me reopen lp:1006690 because this bug seems to have been triggered again.
Now I don't even see any capture devices in pavucontrol

alsamixer shows 'mic boost', 'capture' and 'internal mic boost', but changing them does not help
arecord | aplay does not play anything, and arecord just outputs zero bytes.

I am attaching apport-collect data, and I will try to determine the closest last version of mainline PPA kernel which does work on my HW.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.9 kernel[0]. You will need to install both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages.

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

It is really strange as the fix should be integrated at least in Quantal kernel 3.5.0-16 and onwards (as per lp:1006690 ).
Today in the evening I will try to boot the whole Precise or Quantal userland and test if my mic. really works with these.
Just to ensure my HW is operative.

booted daily Kubuntu Raring image from live USB

microphone works! pavucontrol shows it in capture devices.

now need to determine what is different between live USB and my Raring testing setup (upgraded since Kubuntu 9.10)

ok, people, that's surely not a kernel problem.

but now, how do I resolve it ?

When I boot from live USB, microphone works. Both with arecord and parecord.
When I boot from HDD, it is deaf in both programs.

please help me to determine the difference between these two audio setups.

ok, the problem was resolved by removing ~/.pulse/ and ~/.pulse-cookie and restarting system
