Bug Description

I have stored the username/password for the wireless network I use, and also have my home folder encrypted, so nothing stored in it is available before I login.

If a wireless connection is marked as available to the whole system (this checkbox seems marked per dafault), it will try to connect before I login, but it seems that the password is stored on my home folder, so it will fail to retrieve the password (because it is encrypted, I think) and a window will popup asking for the authentication. This is an annoyance, because I want to login before doing anything that uses the network, and the wireless auth box will steal the keyboard focus from the login password box. Then I have to click to close the window before I login.

I don't really want to make that wireless network available for system wide, because the credentials are personal, so I unmarked the relevant checkbox when I found about it. It solved the problem for me, nonetheless it is still a bug, because if a wireless network has a stored password and is available system wide, it should not annoy a user asking for password before it logins, wheter or not any home directory is encrypted.

I have the same problem. The wifi prompts me for password before I log in. The prompt steals the focus and hangs several seconds during which I can't type in my password and must wait.

I also have encryption set up but unlike Lucas, I use a luks container for /home and /var that is mounted during the boot so it shouldn't matter.

At first I thought the problem might come from the permissions on my home folder. I set it to 0750 as I don't want other users to have access to my documents (I tried "usermod -a -G lightdm my_user" but nothing changed after a restart.)

I think it more likely comes from the fact that the secret key is stored in seahorse and that means it is deciphered only when i log in. I don't have this problem on my home computer where I have a very similar setup (regarding encryption and permissions) but with an ethernet connection.

I'm running recent installs of Raring.
