Synaptic Package Manager has frozen up twice with it's 'terminal output' (showing process) window open & vacant

Bug Description
I left Synaptic open for at least 8 hours in it's frozen state yesterday to make sure it wasn't invisibly busy. No crash therefore but unable to install anything else on a fresh install until after reboot due to the state of synaptic. The synergy packages I had marked for install were unmarked, uninstalled but installed fine after reboot (through Synaptic pkg mngr).
