Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-synaptics

I have an AlpsPS/2, on a Toshiba Satellite A110-294 with Feisty (fresh install, I did not try other versions).
Very often, the system hangs while the pointer still moves, but it is impossible to click and the keyboard becomes mad, sometimes repeating the same key many times. The computer is thus not usable. I get the following error in Xorg.0.log:
"Alps GlidePoint can't grab event device, errno=1022"

(Same as:http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-384210.html)

I know Debian has committed a patch about this, that has been included in last unstable version 0.14.7~git20070517-1 of xserver-xorg-input-synaptics:
http://people.debian.org/~terpstra/attach/1@20070430.090233.bea05b8b.attach
This version is not in Gutsy, and although I managed to build the Debian version from source, I get symbols errors when X tries to load synaptics driver (because it uses the recent Xorg version 1.3 that is only in Gutsy).

So I don't know whether this patch would solve or not this bug. Is there a way to try? Is there a chance for it to get in Feisty upgrades? Thanks, this is blocking 3 computers I'd like to switch to Ubuntu.
