Defect USB drive? I created the bootable Live USB drive using UNetbootin. I booted the Live USB and ran "Check disc for defects" which did not complete. Ctrl+Alt+F1 gives the following message: "Disabling IRQ #18". It could also be a buggy Live media at alpha stage. I could try to run the daily build using VirtualBox.

CD integrity check tested OK on VirtualBox, that means the USB drive is certainly defect. Marking this bug as invalid. With limited Ubuntu resources I didn't mean to report a bug when it's not. Keep up the good work Ubuntu community!

I reproduced the bug with another USB drive. I therefore think it has to do with the hardware not being properly recognised. raring won't run with my hardware:

Why not offer the Ubuntu Installer or the Debian Installer too? For some the live images hardly work.
