Change user on nvidia does not work when using desktop-effects/compiz

Bug Description

Binary package hint: desktop-effects

One user logged in is "using" desktop-effects, when changing to an other user, and switching back via [Ctl]+[Alt]+[F7] you only see black with withe cursor, but the cursor is changing, e.g. if crossing a border if a window.

Which version of Ubuntu are you using? This sounds an awful lot like Bug #96240 .... Does the following the suggestion in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20/+bug/96240/comments/28 make any difference?

it does make a difference: I see white background with mousepointer instead of a black one ;-)

i am running ubuntu 7.04

this bug is not very much important to me, i report this bug primary to ensure that other users are not affected and i hope to get a workaround, e.g. to disable desktop-effekts on the console

Moving to linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20 from linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20 because reporter is using Feisty not Gusty.
