Bug Description

I don't use any modem (at least not actively, the machine does have a Sierra MC8780, but I didn't use it, have not configured it and there's no SIM in the slot).

I've removed the reference to the duplicate bug as it doesn't exist anymore.

The issue is affecting my system as well.

I have an HP hs2300 HSDPA Broadband Wireless Module (Sierra MC8775). Since 13.04 the modem-manager cannot start anymore.

NetworkManager is 0.9.8.0 whilst modemmanager is 0.6.0.0

This is an extract from the syslog (basically the modem-manager starts and dies in an infinite loop):
