Perhaps it merely needs an extra null pointer check?

Maarten - since we're at release now, a null pointer check would probably be simplest to sru. But why would conf->crtc[0]->driver_private be null here?

also note this was filed against 1.0.6, so should check if it got fixed in 1.0.7. At least crtc is still not being checked for null so guessing the issue is still relevant.

After bug 1157614 was fixed, I longer get any crashes so maybe it's fixed?
