Bug Description

I'm using my computer normally when suddenly the Plank freezes and force me to reset my computer to continue the usage, this is kinda annoying, I got this problem a lot of times just today. In some cases, I was switching from one application to another selecting it's icon (not pressing alt+tab) and then it crashes.

We can't do much without seeing a stacktrace of that crash which apport is suppose to provide after it really crashed.

Changed in pantheon-dock:

I have the same issue. How can I deliver you such a stacktrace?

I had the same problem, I couldn't get a stacktrace because the whole computer (except for the mouse cursor) freezed, even if I tried to Alt+fX to get a tty.

Please someone try to reproduce, I got it a lot when hovering on and off the dock, you will notice that the whole screen freezes but the cursor is still moveable.

How can I get the stacktrace of the latest crash? Because it is certain that something is crashing in the background, but I can't interact with it (when the OS freezes I can't do anything but reboot the computer).

My computer is a Lenovo E430 Thinkpad, with an Intel HD Graphics 3000.

PD: The bug was so anoying I had to switch to Xubuntu 12.10, I was using eOS beta as my main OS, but I couldn't stand it.

I have just reinstalled beta 1 and couldn't reproduce with the vanilla instalation of eOS, I will try to reproduce with latest updates.

I can reproduce the bug with the latests updates installed over beta 1. Just hover on the dock (so the tooltips appear over the icons) for a while and the screen will freeze completely, only updating the cursor. No keyboard interaction, only the mouse. I'm searching a way to get a stacktrace, but this is definitely a blocker for a Luna release.

This doesn't seem to be related to plank/pantheon-dock. More likely a gala or x-driver issue.

I'm using elementary OS 0.3.2 Freya (64-bit), and I try the same problem. Why not bring by default, or automatic update to the updating quantal kernel + X because I was having the same problem?
