Bug Description

After installing Request Tracker 4.0.10 on Ubuntu server 12.10 running as a guest of VMWARE Workstation 9.0.2 build-1031769 (NAT mode), installing the ExternalAuth plugin and enabling it, apache segfalts on restart. An identical configuration runs fine in a non-vmware Ubuntu 12.04 box.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This sounds very specific and I'm not sure how much progress this bug will be able to make without a developer with exactly this setup able to investigate.

It would help if you could provide precise steps to reproduce on a fresh install (every command typed and file modified) so that a developer can easily try to reproduce the problem exactly as you have it.

Please also attach a backtrace using the instructions provided at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash

Once done, please change the bug status back to New.

Setting Importance to Medium for now as this bug is so specific that I don't think it is likely to affect many Ubuntu users. This could change, of course.

Changed in apache2 (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete
importance: Undecided → Medium

How about I simply provide you with the VM? Apache will segfault when it's
started. It Happens in VMWARE player as well.

Sorry, I want to be able to debug from the steps to reproduce themselves, and try in environments outside of VMware to work out if it is an issue specific to VMware or not. So individual steps would be best.

I highly suspect it's related to VMWare. I'll try to reproduce without. If I
can't, I'll then make that text box into a VM and see what happens.
