Bug Description

After selecting 'show hidden and backup files' in the view tab of the preferences menu, hidden and backup files don't appear in the current window, or even browsing to other windows. If I open a new window, the new window will now show the hidden files properly.

To reproduce:
turn off 'show hidden and backup files' option in nautilus
close all nautilus windows
open a nautilus window
turn on 'show hidden and backup files' option in nautilus
hidden files don't appear
open another nautilus window
hidden files appear in the new window

Confirmed on a 13.04 daily build.
Ctrl+H does work normally.

I'm also having this problem. I just installed 13.04 and I think the problem started right away (ie, not due to a settings change that I made).

This is still occurring in 13.10 using Nautilus 3.8.2.

Can't reproduce this on 12.04; so it seems to be a regression. Created upstream bug 711234.
