Bug Description

"Edit tool bar" I've reduced to "currentPage"; then I dragged and dropped that remaining "rectangle" containing only current page slash number of all pages and placed it in an unconspicuous corner of my (vertical) screen.

Other than that, there are no toolbars open, only a number of tabs, which I'm viewing full-screen on a vertical ("portrait") display.

However, that's sub-ideal, and still in testing-stage for me, as the "Edit tool bar" now acts as a separate window (in ubuntu) and sometimes there are "jumps" if I page up and down, depending which "window" has focus.

Note that this is no bug, but rather a FEATURE REQUEST,

for "current page slash number of all pages" (which corresponds to "currentPage") to be visible maybe at the very right corner of the tab-bar (or somewhere similar).

Thus, the user could keep those important numbers in sight, without foresaking a large rectangle (of about a centimeter times width, or height, worth of screen size) to a gray nothingness...

Hello again,

I am sorry, but there are limits to configurability. IMHO this optimization for space would also make the interface inconsistent. If you don't want to use the tool bars because of their size, then don't.

Regards, Adam.

Hmm, this is really not ueber-important (already as it is now qpdfview is my favourite!!),

but in the longer term, time permitting,

I'd appreciate if this feature request could be given another thought; e.g. that "currentPage" pops up as a tooltip (e.g. when hovering over the current tab, perhaps when a modifier is pressed), etc.

Much appreciation for what you've done and achieved already!

How about adding a setting to display this in the window title (since it usually has some space left), e.g. "foobar (1 / 10) - qpdfview" instead of "foobar - qpdfview"?

Even better!

But rather than "foobar (1 / 10) - qpdfview",

I'd (personally) prefer "(1 / 10) foobar - qpdfview"

as this would keep (1 / 10) always consistently in the same place.

That would be soooooo cool!

I'll probably keep the version with the page after the file name, since I find it more sensible to read and the placement depends on the window title alignment anyway (which AFAIK is usually centered instead of left aligned as in Unity).

Hi thinkpad, it is great that you like qpdfview and that you want to participate by sharing your ideas. However, please consider two things:
1. Please do not forget, that this is a one man hobby project run almost solely by Adam. The current frequency of feature requests on the bug tracker is quite stressful, so it would be really great if you would try to not ask for too many features at a time.
2. qpdfview is not evince. It has a very different scope, two of the most important aims being minimal dependencies and small size of the program itself. It would be helpful if you think about these aims before requesting features.

This does not only apply to this bug report. Please do not take this personally or feel offended. It would help a lot if you think about these points in the future.

Hi Benjamin,

feel not at all offended but totally grateful for the great work Adam (and you) have achieved.

I further feel I'm being "super-critical" about a product which is already near-perfect; my ideas are but a brainstorm-wishlist with a lot of patience... they can wait.
