Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers.
You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage .

I have classified this bug as a bug in "amule".

Thanks for your report.

The amule icon is transparent here. Could you tell us which Ubuntu and amule version do you have?

Thanks
Emilio

Sorry for not associating this bug with package.

I use Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn.

aMule is 2.1.3.

I have news about this bug.
It appears that the aMule tray icon becomes transparent only on the desktop on which aMule has been started.
When you go to another desktop (with another wallpaper), the icon is no longer transparent.
The reason for this is that the transparency "screen shot" was taken on the other desktop and the icon does not become updated when the desktop wallpaper is changed.

I've forwarded it upstream, and it seems like it won't be fixed, at least anytime soon...

Could you please check whether this still happens with the same Desktop environment you were using (KDE?) ?

I can confirm that the problem is still there.
I use Kubuntu Gutsy. Everything is upgraded.

I have attached screen dump.

Steps to reproduce:
1: Set background image on desktop 1 to a dark image.
2: Set background image on desktop 2 to a light image.
3: Set Kicker to be transparent.
4: Go to desktop 1 and start aMule.
5: Go to desktop 2.
6: Observe that the background around the aMule icon is not transparent. (it uses the background image from Desktop 1)

This happens to me in Windows XP, but only intermittently (usually when I am downloading). I thought it was normal but apparently it's not.

Evil saltine,
we do not provide Windows support in here. You would better post your question in aMule forums.

By the way this bug has been resolved in Ubuntu Hardy LTS.
Please upgrade or ask for a backport of newer aMule version (you can also install a newer build by hand from Hardy repositories).
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/amule
you will probably have to update also libupnp2 and some other dependency.

I have a aMule v2.26 (downloaded from karmic repos) on Kubuntu 9.04 (KDE 4.3.2), and this problem seems not solved

Same thing with amule 2.2.6 under regular ubuntu (gnome) lucid alpha1:

1. Start amule
2. Open properties in the gnome panel where amule is located
3. Set a transparent solid color
4. amule icon background shows no transparency

I also suffer from this bug

I found the color is exactly the "windows background color" of the theme currently used.

Hi,

I am still suffering the same bug. I am using Ubuntu 10.04, aMule 2.2.6. The icon is not transparent in my panel, either. I've updated everything.
