Bug Description

I installed unity-tweak-tool and set 'Desktop Icons' -> 'Icons on desktop' to off. After a restart my desktop background did not come up, as you can see in screenshot login screen output shows instead. Everything works, cannot set background from system settings.

After reverting the setting in unity-tweak-tool, desktop background reappears.

unity-tweak-tool 0.0.3-0~85~raring1
unity 6.12.0daily13.03.08-0ubuntu1

Running raring, updated to latest dailies.

I had the same issue a while back. The only solution was to revert the settings to their defaults. This bug doesn't belong to UTT, but probably to Unity.

Yeah, Unity requires Nautilus to control the desktop and when you disable that all graphical glitches hell breaks loose on your head.
Having said that - we might have to consider nuking that switch from UTT, it obviously doesn't do any good, on the contrary - it causes harm.

So it's not really a bug in Unity but a feature in UTT that Unity does not support? If so I also think it should be removed from UTT as it's a bit misleading and also this bug should really be closed :)

Jason - are you using nautilus 3.8?

Adolfo, no 3.6 as per default Ubuntu 13.04 repos. Just tried setting the switch again and confirmed this bug still exists, desktop disappeared after reboot.
