Bug Description
Binary package hint: xfmedia
From time to time xfmedia crashes, but not in reproducible situations. It often happens while playing sound files. It gives:
The program 'xfmedia' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 93 error_code 11 request_code 140 minor_code 19)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
The appropriate section in xorg.conf says:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "intel"
VendorName "Intel Corporation"
BoardName "Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
Option "XAANoOffscreen
EndSection
... and I'm owning a 915 GM chipset.
By the way: My notebook got two videocards you can choose from by a switch. I just tried the Nvidia card -- and it works here quite properly!
Thank you for your bug report. Do you still have this issue with an up-to-date Xubuntu Feisty 7.04?
