Bug Description

The parcellite applet-indication (icon by the clock) was working just fine, but then suddenly disappeared.

Upon trying to launch parcellite again, the icon didn't reappear.

I can't determine what made it disappear. All I can say is that it happened shortly after I launched a Virtual Box virtual machine (and this may be totally unrelated).

In system Monitor, I can see that Parcellite never stopped running as a process; right now I have two instances of it running (due to me trying to relaunch it after the icon went away).

So although the Parcellite process continues to run, there seems to be a sustainability issue regarding "keeping its icon available on the top-panel" (in Unity).

I tried killing those two processes, and then relaunching Parcellite, but after this, the icon didn't reappear. The only thing that will bring it back is a complete reboot.

This is a serious bug, due to the fact that without that Icon being there, there is no user interface to actually use the running process.

I was please to see recent updates that make Parcellite work in Ubuntu's Unity interface, and I'll really appreciate when it receives further updates that will sustain its icon on the top-panel.

It would also be nice if the icon sustained on *all* top panels (see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/parcellite/+bug/1135515)

Is it only parcellite software icon that disappear, or some other applications ?

I have a bug in precise, where all classic tray icons (gnome2-like) disappear frequently from unity panel. The only way to restore them is restarting compiz by running "compiz --replace" in alt-F2 prompt.

Maybe it's the same for you ?
