Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

... [apport] firefox-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in __kernel_vsyscall()

This happened when I logged in into KDesktop Environment and the desktop was being loaded. I had been also facing similar crashes during normal usage, when the FireFox had just closed down with no errors.

Thank you Parthan for submitting this report.

Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on
[1], or upload the crash report that probably was generated during the crash
and that should be located at /var/crash/ to [2].

Please indicate which extensions/plugins do you have enabled; and if this crash
is reproducible describe the steps that lead to it (it is very important for us
to have a test case for each crash).

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Thanks in advance.

H. Montoliu

I would like to add another point which I missed - when I open a new Firefox window, the firebug shows "1 Error" for the empty window. The error is as follows..

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE) [nsIFileOutputStream.init]" nsresult: 'nsSessionStore.js(line 2025) "0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE)" location: "JS frame :: file:///usr/lib/firefox/components/nsSessionStore.js :: sss_writeFile :: line 2025" data: no]
[Break on this error] createInstance(Ci.nsIFileOutputStream);

Hope this will help in some way :)

We have not received any duplicates for some time. Thus, this crash was likely due to some unique plugin extension combination or has been fixed in the meantime. Please, reopen it at any time if you have more related info.

Thanks for your contribution. Don't hesitate to submit new crashes,

H. Montoliu
