"Unable to find a medium containing a live file system"

Bug Description

Good people, install ubuntu-12.04.2-desktop-i386, a dual-boot with Windows XP SP3, but when the reboot to select the operating system followed ubuntu shows me a window that says "Unable to find a medium Containing a live file system ", I give ok, then displays another window that says how you want the graphics configrar with the following ....
-ruuning low grafic
default-generic graphics
-leave and go to console
Before proceeding with the explanation ubuntu starts but shows only those windows before I commented with black wallpaper ....

explained Siguo ok .... but select any option always leads me to the console environment
to enter the name and password, the login and stay in the environment in console mode .....
So I ask the favor of giving me your help to determine the problem .... Thank you for your time .... .

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect https://api.launchpad.net/1.0/bugs/1142591

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
