Bug Description
It happens when you open app from launcher or dash or terminal. It is maximized by default, but you see the empty vertical line on the right edge of screen. If 'under' this app is nothing you will see a part of your desktop image (like in my attached screenshot), if 'under' this app is really maximized app you will see a part of it, and when you click on it you will go to it.
To make app really maximized you need manually unmaximize and then maximize it again. In this case vertical line will dissapear, but only for one app/window. You will need to do this with all open apps/windows.
See attached file.
