Bug Description
We should use a welcomw widget to offer the option of creating a folder if a user navigates to a location that does not exist. I believe this was in an old mockup of Dan's. :)

I was working exactly on this for fixing bug #1022934.
But while doing so, I triggered some nasty bugs, that weren't reported because they are not present otherwise.
While I didn't document those bugs, I did document what I was doing and what was my progress here: https:/
When I stumbled on those bugs, I started coding a much simpler thing that at least would fix bug #1022934.
I suggest marking this as Wishlist.
