Bug Description

Binary package hint: i810switch

So, I tell about a problem with my Sony Vaio VGN-TX2XP, with an integrated i810 Intel video chipset

I am using the "i810rotate" command line to activate the external screen, and "i810switch" to know about the current state.

Two possibilities :
 - The image is jamed on most of external displays, (screen, tv, projecter, etc...)
 - Sometimes I have synchro problem and so the displayer does not display anything but an error message.

In both cases, the main laptop screen display is ok.

On the same laptop, using Windows, there is no problem, so it may be a problem of driver. Please, ask me about what to do to complete the report with more stuff, I don't know what to add at the moment.

The i810 driver is a mess for external screen. I would check the intel driver or i810-modesetting from debian project.

I would test this issue with the latest Gutsy Live CD. You have to change to Intel driver manually until https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/135141 this bug is fixed but with the Intel driver you have good changes that your external monitor works out of the box.
