Bug Description

I have an Acer Aspire 3613WLMi laptop with a PHILIPS 'DVD+-RW SDVD8441 DVD/CD burner. The firmware is updated to revision PA49.

On trying to burn a CD (e.g. the ubuntu .iso) it appears to work to a certain percentage then reports that burning fails. This happens every time.

Windows XP on the same machine will successfully burn the same file using NTI software.

Does burning this image using nautilus-cd-burner or wodim on the command
line works? Judging by the contents of the error messages provided, this seems
to be a bug in wodim.

On a Gateway MX6440 note that I have PA49 version of the firmware. I have burned DVDs and CDs in the past on this machine... I think it would have been in the days of the 7.x series of Ubuntu. It will fail after a certain point in the burning... normally its 75% or more in but it has occurred at under 5%. The disks are fine, and disks from the same package, and even the same disk (+RWs) will burn just find in my desktop with a BENQ DW1620.

Please let me know what other information I can provide you with to help get this issue resolved.

I must confess to a workaround: I replaced the drive, so cannot comment any further on this bug!
