Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

Sorry about the non-descriptive title, but a one-line summary of this problem is difficult to write.

I'm using Totem 2.18.1 (2.18.1-0ubuntu3) on Ubuntu Feisty updated daily.
The problem is that whenever I open a file to be played in Totem, and it is currently running and paused on another file, the same instance opens the new file and resumes at the old position.

Example and steps to reproduce:
I open a file and pause it at e.g. 00:35. I select another file without closing the Totem window and the new file starts playing from 00:35.

Cheers,
Stephane.

Thank you for your bug. I just tried and it works fine on a stock feisty installation. Your bug report indicates you have locally modified versions of totem installation, I'm closing the bug then, that's likely due to the changes you are using. You might want to reinstall the official Ubuntu version

Changed in totem:

Which locally modified versions?
Which official Ubuntu version?
You mean that my totem is the XINE version, and not the GStreamer (and supported) one?
Totem was installed from the Ubuntu repositories, I don't have modified anything.

I don't understand :)

Stephane.

P.S.: I just saw a "modified" word in my first post ("totem-xine 2.18.1-0ubuntu3 [modified: usr/lib/totem/totem-plugin-viewer usr/bin/totem usr/bin/totem-video-thumbnailer usr/bin/totem-video-indexer]"): are you talking about this? What does it mean?

Thanks.

This line means the binaries installed on your system don't match the package ones, either something has screwed or you did install some over the distribution ones using make install or something similar to it

Hi, I currently have this same issue, is the best way to correct this issue by purging totem and reinstalling it?
