Bug Description
Hi all,
There should be a link/url of a package's homepage if there is one. There
are times when the users are not sure due to similar named apps, or due to
the maintainers/
e.g.'s to show this, netspeed and glade-gnome-3 .
While I'm pretty sure that
https:/
given at http://
know for sure. I looked at the changelog
"aptitude changelog netspeed" which tells me its 0.13 but nothing on the
overview page tells me whether its the same one. There is no description on
the overview page nor is there the link to the package home page. Now as a
user if I'm using/testing both netspeed as well as network monitor and no
idea what network-monitor is called.
I also did an apt-cache search network-monitor
tcpspy - Incoming and Outgoing TCP/IP connections logger
which brings another package altogether. So until a crash & apport reports
the crash I won't come to know if netspeed is the right one or not.
The second e.g. is of glade-gnome-3 . Now while the package is there, there
is no page for it. I searched for it
https:/
this confuses users, either glade-3 be one package having also the gnome
stuff or if there is glade-gnome-3 then it should have its own page. I was
actually on the glade-3 channel for over an hr. + asking him why such a
beautiful done package is not there in the repos.
The idea again, while its not just fixing these two packages or making some
sort of resolution on them, but the more larger picture of having some kind
of policy. Perhaps have an Option so people can add a hyperlink if there is
some page. It doesn't even have to be an outside link could be with the
http://
As always thoughts, suggestions, additions, refinements & brickbats to the
point raised above are welcome.
