The upgrader tool does not find a new Ubuntu release that is available

when using ubuntu 12.04, and typing in do-release-upgrade into a terminal, it tells me that no new release is available, even though there is.

The output from the command says that it checked for a new version and could not find one, nothing about user settings being the reason for not reporting any new release, so it is obviously falsely reporting no new release.

This is invalid, it is disabled by default to show the upgrades to a non lts. To upgrade from a lts to a stable version of Ubuntu.
edit:
/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades

and change: Prompt=lts

to: Prompt=normal

and save the changes.

and then run do-release-upgrade

This bug has nothing to do with it being disabled by default. As I said before, the output falsely reports that there is no new release available. It says nothing about whether or not it is lts or normal. Giving false output is definitely a bug.

Thank you for your reply. Your system has been configured to not update to newer releases expect LTS ones. Could you try replacing the lts by normal in the file /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades (either by opening with gksudo gedit or graphically with the software and updates tool) and try to upgrade again? I did run it. Is the message do-release-upgrade gives going to be corrected to reflect whether or not a release is actually available?
