Bug Description

Its not consistent, but when using LibreOffice, at some point my screen distorts and I cannot read anything or even view icons and other graphics. I can still tell that the windows are there, but nothing is readable. I do manage to re-boot my maching that seems to reset my screen. I have even noticed, that as my machine is closing down, I can start to read it again. I just updated to a new version of LibreOffice with no differences. I have an e-mail with a powerpoint file, and when I open it, my screen goes crazy (distorts) This seems to be happing ever since I upgraded to 12.10. I need my word processor.

I am not sure, when I reviewed bug 568492 it seems like only the font is distorted and they have been getting some type of error message. I don't get any error message and my entire screen is so distorted that I can hardly do anything. I can get thru restarting my computer my clicking on the upper right hand corner and selecting the next to last item and then the pop-up box to confirm restart. But none of that is readagle and the graphics are all distorted as well. I wish I could get a screen shot, but I can't navigate through my system without seeing anything on the screen.

Let me know if I can provide any more information. Dale

From the OP's description, it may look something like my screen; I've attached a screencap.

Thanks, Avery, your screen shot is close to what mine looks like. Mine might have been a little more distorted, but very close. I have switched computers to get around this issue. I will help out whatever I can as I still have the old computer sitting beside my desk.

If you can grope around on the launcher and find system settings/display/resolution you can change resolution to restore the screen. Then you change the resolution back. But you have to close libreoffice while the screen is still bad. Isn't this bug similar to Bug #676166? Jason Smith (jassmith) wrote
This is caused by the nvidia drivers trashing our textures. We need to redraw them after a suspend.

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
