Just lately having problems with some files not showing up when I was looking for them.

Some help by doing:

sudo chown userid:userid filename
sudo chmod 666 filename
(or 644 for no user write
or 777 for directories, executables, etc.)

We the users don't know why such Ubuntu changes are showing up.
