Bug Description

Can not add a new bookmark.

  Reproduce:

According to the help menu, Go the folder I want to add > menu > bookmarks > add new bookmark (but this does not exist)

  or

Menu > Bookmarks > There is a minus sign to remove, but no plus sign to add new

Can not edit bookmarks

   Reproduce:

Menu > Bookmarks > Edit an existing entry to a new folder (Eg. /home/brucey/Pictures to /home/brucey/Test). Then double click the name on the left and you get an error message saying "Unhandled error message: Error when getting information for file '/home/brucey/test': No such file or directory". And it is not added to the bookmarks/places in nautilus

The unity quicklist menu also does not relate to the places listed in nautilus

I know these should maybe be posted as separate bugs, but they seem related enough to be be together

May I suggest high priority as the whole bookmarks feature is not functioning and no work around

Thank you for your bug report, you can bookmark the current location for the "cog menu" (the round icon at the right of the toolbar)

Ah, I'm glad to see there is a way (the cog) to add bookmarks. If this is how it is by design, it still seems like a HUGE usability issue that you have to Google around to figure out how to add a bookmark, whereas in the past there were a number of more intuitive ways to do it (drag & drop, right click, menu option). The cog is definitely not an intuitive place for me to look.

And Ctrl-D doesn't work for me either since I upgraded to 13.04 today, so apparently the cog is the only way to bookmark (even though it still lists the "Ctrl-D" shortcut next to it).

The way to add a bookmark is through the clog menu now - this is not a bug.

The add to bookmarks in the cog menu does nothing in my 12.04 to 13.04 upgraded installation.

Okay, maybe this is not a very clear GUI -- I had selected a folder with the mouse and then clicked the bookmark option. Was in home, so because home is already in the left panel this silently does nothing. The correct way is to navigate to the folder, then bookmark works. This also implies you cannot bookmark a file.

On Saucy AMD64, bookmarking works using the Cog method. The "Bookmark This Location" option will be grayed out if the folder you are in is already under Places or Bookmarks.

I can confirm however that editing bookmarks is still broken via Files->Bookmarks. Unable to Add new bookmarks.

Also, in Nautilus the Places and Bookmarks sections are separate from one another. However, when going to Files->Bookmarks, they all seem to be combined together. You can change the order, but it doesn't make a difference on the display. There are also items missing entirely, such as Trash which is present under Places.
