Bug Description

The current behavior of onboard is to hide alternate characters for keys until shift is pressed. Displaying the alternates in another color or smaller font size along with standard layout (as in android or a physical keyboard) makes characters like colon and asterisk much easier to find.

Hi,

I have uploaded a snapshot of the current development status of Onboard containing a fix for this bug and other new features to our main PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~onboard/+archive/ppa

The snapshot is available for raring and for saucy.

Have a nice day.

Francesco, this bug is still open. Trunk only has a prototype fix for this, which barely works for some layouts and isn't exposed in preferences.

Ok; I was not aware that it was not a definitive fix, as I can see the labels for the Compact, the Grid and the Full Keyboard layouts. And for the Small and Phone layouts, it probably does not make sense, since the Shift modifier only acts on the letters.
