Volume icon in edit dialog does not display properly

Bug Description

The volume icon is displaying with a red circle with a slask through it instread of a proper volume icon. This is occuring under Uberstudent (Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS)

I have downloaded the source, however there are no compilation instructions provided. Need a README or INSTALL file in the source tarball.

Thank you for filing a bug for this.
Regarding the icon issue, unfortunately, this looks like a problem with the icon theme you are currently using. Cuckoo uses the system icons for audio-volume-muted, audio-volume-high, audio-volume-low, and audio-volume-medium. I will look into adding fallback icons if the system icon theme does not have them.

If you want to “compile” a version for yourself, Cuckoo is written in Python, so there isn't a traditional compilation step needed. The Cuckoo project uses Quickly, so once you have Quickly installed, you should be able to just use “quickly run” in the source project and Cuckoo should start.

Installing Quickly:
sudo apt-get install quickly
