Bug Description

The sound does not work. I was able to get the sound to work by installing kernel 3.0.0 and worked.. but made the system lock up.

sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

add the following line at the end of the file

options snd-hda-intel model=3stack

and rebooted.

if the front panel support Jack detection

you need to send email to alsa devel mailing list to add ALC 880_FIXUP _3ST_AUTOMUTE similar to ALC880_FIXUP_6ST_AUTOMUTE and a PCI quirk for your gateway

Also, with headphones, if I plug them in, the speakers still work (sound plays out of them too) so I have to unplug the speakers from the computer to just use headphones.
