Not sure if it's related, but I am also experiencing bug 1125759

This is crashing in code added by patch autoconfig-fixup-tell-changed-so-randr-clients-can-t.patch, added in version 2:1.13.2-0ubuntu1, which improves hybrid graphics support. Maarten will follow up with you for additional testing; meantime downgrading to 2:1.13.1.901-0ubuntu2 would presumably stop the crashes, although your hybrid behavior may not be as good.

is this still an issue with 1.13.3-0ubuntu2? That one seemed to be more reliable for me.

I have the latest updates applied and I have

It's held up in raring-proposed due to freeze. If you enable it you should be able to get the package.

OK, I installed it and it hasn't made any improvement.

I can boot about 50% of the time, which is about the same as the previous version.
