Bug Description

in update manager i changed notification from Longterm to any version.
clicked check for updates.
clicked the 12.10 upgrade button.

----error message-------------

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

You seem to have ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates and xorg-edgers/ppa PPA installed. As stated in the description of those PPAs, you must purge them before attempting to upgrade your installation. So please do that and try again...
